Next-generation probiotic with an enzyme fraction and vitamins A, E, D3, K2

Probiset® contains a unique formula built on three parts that reinforce one another: five characterized live bacterial cultures, a cell-free Bacillus subtilis fraction carrying enzyme and antiseptic activity, and four fat-soluble vitamins - A, E, D3 and K2. The live strains rebuild the microbial community. The B. subtilis metabolites supply what the strains alone don't. The vitamins cover exactly what a depleted gut absorbs badly.

That last point is worth a moment. Vitamins A, E, D3 and K2 are all fat-soluble, which means their absorption depends on a working small intestine, bile flow, healthy villi, and an intact mucosal surface. Lactobacillus rhamnosus ARTB-180 and L. plantarum ARTB-190 are hardy, acid-tolerant strains that hold their ground under pressure, including alongside antibiotic therapy. Streptococcus thermophilus ARTB-188 is the yogurt culture; it produces lactase and helps with milk sugar that many adults stop handling well somewhere in their forties.

Then there is Propionibacterium freudenreichii ARTB-137, which most people have eaten without ever knowing its name. It's the organism that ripens Swiss-type cheese and puts the holes in it. In the gut, it ferments its substrate into propionic and acetic acid, short-chain fatty acids that the colon lining burns as fuel, and it is one of the few food-grade bacteria able to synthesize vitamin B12 and menaquinones, the K2 family. There's a quiet symmetry there: the formula delivers K2 directly and also includes a bacterium that makes it.

The Bacillus subtilis component works on a different principle. It is a cell-free culture liquid - the metabolites the bacterium produced, harvested without the bacterium itself. That fraction carries enzymes that help break food down and compounds with antiseptic activity against unwanted flora. Because nothing in it is alive, gastric acid and a concurrent course of antibiotics leave it entirely unaffected.
